Hitech Grand Prix today announce that Formula Regional driver Pierre-Louis Chovet will join the team at Spa, replacing Renault Academy driver Max Fewtrell in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
The 18-year-old French driver, supported by Travel Planet, will join Red Bull juniors Lawson and Hauger in Round 7 of the FIA F3 Championship at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps, to coincide with his Formula Regional European commitments.
The news follows yesterday’s announcement that Hitech has parted ways with Renault-backed driver Max Fewtrell after six rounds due to a struggle with pace and competitiveness.
2017 marked the year that Chovet made his debut in single-seaters, contesting in French Formula 4 for two seasons, finishing 6th in the Championship in 2018. He then stepped up to the Formula Regional European Championship in 2019 and claimed 2 podiums last weekend at Paul Ricard.
A further announcement for Rounds 8 and 9 will be confirmed at a later date.
Pierre-Louis added:
“I’m extremely proud and excited to contest Round 7 of the FIA F3 Championship at Spa-Francorchamps with Hitech GP, one of the top F3 teams. I know it’s going to be a huge challenge but I will do everything I can to give the team as strong as a result as they deserve. I’ll be working hard with Liam and Dennis to ensure I deliver.”
