Hitech Grand Prix today announce that Formula Regional driver Pierre-Louis Chovet will join the team at Monza this weekend, following the Frenchman’s debut in FIA F3 with the team last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
The 18-year-old driver, supported by Travel Planet, will once again join Red Bull juniors Lawson and Hauger in the penultimate round of the FIA F3 Championship, to coincide with his Formula Regional European commitments.
Chovet made his debut with Hitech last weekend at Spa for Round 7 of the FIA F3 Championship, following last week’s announcement that Hitech has parted ways with Renault-backed driver Max Fewtrell after six rounds, due to a struggle with pace and competitiveness.
Chovet made his single-seater debut in French Formula 4, back in 2017, competing in nine rounds and taking one victory. He then stepped up to the Championship full-time in 2018, finishing in sixth place, with one win and four podiums. The Frenchman has been racing in Formula Regional this season, and currently sits sixth in the standings, taking two podiums in the previous round at Paul Ricard.
Hitech’s full line-up for the final round of the FIA F3 Championship, set to take place at Mugello on 11 – 13 September, will be announced in due course.
Pierre-Louis reflected on the announcement:
“From the Monday following my podium at Paul Ricard in Formula Regional, I’ve spent a solid prep week together with the team at Silverstone and Spa for my debut in FIA F3. It has been a rich learning experience and I’m now more confident with this powerful single seater. I’m really grateful for the confidence placed in me from Hitech GP and Travel Planet. Now let’s focus on Monza where I will do my best to bring the team a consistent result.”
