The FIA F3 Championship resumes this weekend (22-24 March) in Melbourne, Australia with the second and final flyaway round before the European campaign gets underway.
Hitech GP’s inaugural visit to Albert Park Circuit last year was a great success, with the F3 races yielding two of the team’s three podium finishes over the weekend. This year, Luke Browning will be carrying the momentum forward from his Feature Race victory in the opening round in Bahrain and hoping to consolidate his position at the top of the Drivers’ standings.
His team-mates Martinius Stenshorne and Cian Shields will also be looking to translate all the learnings from the season-opener into points this weekend.
About Albert Park Circuit
The 16-turn 5.2km circuit is comprised of public roads in leafy Albert Park, set against the backdrop of Melbourne’s distinctive city skyline. This track is tricky, its abundance of gravel traps and the proximity of its walls leaving little margin for error. Four DRS zones – the most of any circuit on the F2 calendar – provide good overtaking opportunities, but the high-speed sections give way to some heavy braking events, so there is a good variety of corners across the lap. Track evolution tends to be high, as is the likelihood of a Safety Car appearance, the combination of which dials up the unpredictability of the race outcome.
Pirelli is going a step softer across both compounds compared to 2023, with the purple-walled supersoft compound tyres complimented by the yellow-marked medium for this year’s event.
